These narrative ballads from both sides of the Texas-Mexico border were recorded in south Texas and Monterrey, Mexico between 1945 and 1975 by local recording firms, primarily Ideal and Falcon. The topics range from politics, social and intercultural conflicts, and interpersonal relations, to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.., the saga of Patty Hearst, and more. 24-page booklet with detailed notes about each corrido by professor James Nicolopulos. Embedded in the CD are transcriptions and translations of all the songs.
