More Info:

Follow-up to their acclaimed 2003 album PLAGUE SOUNDSCAPES, Locust return with a brand-spankin' new recordings that may be the bands' most accessible album in their catalog. SAFTEY SECOND BODY LAST flows like a classical symphony flying through five movements at lightening speed. Produced by Alex Newport (At the Drive In, Melvins), the tension, anxiety and release presented in this piece is enough keep any rock fan still and at ease.

Reviews:

Well, it's not every day you come across guys who consider militaristic insect costumes necessary accessories to electro-tinged, trigger-finger grind. Then there's the artwork and the song titles-plus, just the thought of a band of the Locust's ilk using a Moog is enough to drive your tie-dyed uncle off a cliff. Not that these San Diego natives need to add more fuel to the esoteric fire, but for their first Ipecac release they've apparently composed, recorded and presented Safety Second, Body Last like a symphony movement. I say "apparently" because I have little clue as to how a symphony movement is composed and what the Locust have done doesn't help clear matters up. Officially, this is 11 minutes divided into two tracks that are further partitioned and sub-titled. But them's just details. Essentially what you have here is the Locust at their tightest and most comprehensive-and at their most fragmented and dizzying. The G-force spazz-outs leap and lurch, coming to brick wall stops, letting the electronic gurgle of the Moog lay down haunting and ambient insectoid respites before kicking off into another bunch of chimerical riffs that appear to be sliced and diced by a weed whacker.
