From Blythewood, SC, my name is Nicole Derrick. I am 42 years old and just now getting started in the Christian music business. I tried writing music before the age of 42 and failed miserably. About a year and a half ago, I was reading Psalm 65 on my treadmill with some dance music in the background. I was so excited about the contents of Psalm 65 and about reading how amazing God is, that Psalm 66 came out in the form of a song in 5 minutes! I knew that the blessing of that song was from God, but thought it a one time only occasion. Summer of 2011, I made a conscious decision to put God first in my life, above all else. That meant, no Facebook, no emails, no checking texts until I had spent quality time with my Savior that day. Funny, that is about the time that God started giving me music. Since June of 2011, I have written over 90 songs, 75% of them are original and 25% of them are rewritten hymns. Some of the original songs and melodies were given to me in my sleep and only God can do that! God inspired me to rewrite traditional hymns to today's music so that people of all ages would enjoy the lyrics that at times had become monotonous in the music of the traditional hymns. This winter, my husband, Scott, sold his 1985 Honda Magnum V65 (candy apple red) so that I could make my first CD Album. I feel that God has special plans for my music and my goal is that people from all over the world would be able to listen to the music that He has given me. Eventually, I would like to open a ministry to help those in need. I am waiting on God and His timing for the creation of this ministry. May God receive the Glory! Jeremiah 33:3 Nicole Derrick.
